“In response to the aggression of the US terrorist army in areas in the south of the country under the false pretext of the downing of their helicopter, some US bases in the region were targeted by a powerful attack,” the Iranian military announced on Wednesday.
“The criminal US army must know that if it repeats aggression against the Islamic Republic … more severe and widespread attacks will be carried out against the bank of targets set in the region,” it added.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which took part in the operations alongside the Iranian army, said “four important targets” were destroyed, including F-35 hangars and a command-and-control center in the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
The IRGC said its naval forces hit 21 targets across the region and added that it downed a US MQ-9 drone over the city of Jam in Iran’s Bushehr province.

The strategic petroleum reserve currently contains 342 million barrels, and was being depleted at a rate of about 9 million barrels per week.
The minimum quantity to prevent permanent damage to the salt domes used for storage of the oil reserve is approximately 150 million barrels, so theoretically as much as 21 weeks remain at the current extraction rate though this is a huge overestimate of the time frame. Most of the oil at the “bottom” of the reserve is actually just sludge, though. It’s very plausible that they’ll just deplete the reserve of all usable oil before September and let it collapse.
Oil prices don’t correlate with the SPR, and instead are tied to the private storage in and around Cushing, OK. They’re at about 1/3 full and are estimated to be empty in around 8 weeks.
