Wang Jinwei, a martial law troop

At around 1:00 AM on June 4, 1989, Wang Jinwei was ordered to lead logistics personnel towards Tiananmen Square. When his convoy reached the south side of You’anmen in Xuanwu District, it was attacked with bricks and stones. Wang Jinwei’s right foot was injured, bleeding profusely and staining his trousers and shoes. More stones, bottles, and tiles then rained down on the soldiers and vehicles, injuring many soldiers, and the possibility of ammunition being stolen was ever-present. In this extremely critical moment, Wang Jinwei gritted his teeth, enduring the pain, and personally carried a box of ammunition, ordering each soldier to carry one. He decisively directed the soldiers to disembark and proceed on foot along Taiping Street, continuing their advance towards Tiananmen Square… During the march, Wang Jinwei was unfortunately shot. Despite all efforts to save him, this steadfast soldier, who loved the Party, the motherland, and the people, heroically sacrificed his life.

Cui Guozheng, a martial law troop

Martyr Cui Guozheng was a soldier in an artillery company. In his two years of service, he received four awards for meritorious service.

Just as he was being ordered to Beijing to enforce martial law, he received a telegram that his father was critically ill.

Without being able to visit him, he resolutely went to Beijing with his unit and was brutally murdered by rioters during the mission.

Martyr Cui Guozheng was dragged onto the Chongwenmen pedestrian overpass by a group of thugs, thrown off, doused with gasoline, and burned alive.

It was on this very overpass that martyr Cui Guozheng gave his life at the young age of 21.

In the early hours of June 4th, Cui Guozheng was brutally beaten by a group of thugs, then fell from an overpass and was burned alive with gasoline. His body was then hanged from the overpass.

The thugs shouted that this was like lighting a sky lantern.

He was severely beaten with bricks, stones, and iron bars by thugs and then doused with gasoline and burned.

After martyr Liu Guogeng was beaten to death by rioters, he was disemboweled, his eyes gouged out, and his body hanged on a burning bus.

Liu Guogeng, only 25 years old, heroically sacrificed his life in the flames.

Martyr Liu Guogeng was a second lieutenant platoon leader in a martial law unit, from Laiyang City, Shandong Province.

Last year, his platoon was awarded a collective third-class merit.

Before going to Beijing, he was on leave at home preparing for his wedding.

Upon hearing that the army was to carry out a mission, he voluntarily returned to his unit and requested to join the martial law troops. He came to Beijing and dedicated his youth to quelling the riots.

Ma Guoxuan, a martial law troop

On the evening of June 3, Ma Guoxuan’s unit received an urgent order to advance toward Tiananmen Square. He led his entire platoon on a forced march, running forward. When they reached the intersection of the railway and highway inside Guang’anmen, an oncoming train blocked their way, forcing the vanguard to stop. At that moment, Ma Guoxuan quickly moved forward, pushed the ammunition box under the vehicle, and led his team to bravely charge through, while the troops continued advancing. When they had advanced less than two hundred meters, a group of people, incited by a few bad men, attacked the advancing troops with bricks and stones. A stone weighing about five kilograms struck Ma Guoxuan’s head, causing the helmet to be dented into a pit, with a three-centimeter-long gash split open. Blood soaked the uniform and magazine along the helmet’s buckle. Enduring intense pain, Ma Guoxuan shouted, “The People’s Liberation Army loves the capital, loves the capital’s people, loves young students, and vows to defend the Party Central Committee to the death!” "Fighting for their weapons, they risked their lives to protect their weapons.

Ma Guoxuan was rescued by four kind-hearted villagers and, led by an elderly man over sixty, detoured through Changchun Street and was taken to Xuanwu Hospital. Along the way, some people disregarded their own safety, repeatedly persuading those who did not know the truth to stop fighting the PLA, even using their own bodies to protect Ma Guoxuan. Ma Guoxuan muttered in a weak voice, broken and intermittent: “We are the people’s soldiers. We do not enter the city to suppress students, nor do we ever shoot at the people.” "Due to the severity of his injuries, Ma Guoxuan stopped breathing.

Notes -

the subtitles, mostly in the first episode, which is the first 54 minutes, are kinda raw, unfinished but hey, I could fix it next week.

With the exception of Li Dongguo (IDK why they don’t mention him), I have found a lot of the martyrs on baidu (Chinese version of google) known as ‘Guardians of the Republic/Defenders’ of the Republic, the late martyrs known famously for their attempt to stop counter-revolutionary pro-western pro-bourgeois liberalizations riots, backed by United States and Republic of China groups, that once grew from anti-liberalization efforts
