Ah, great, so back to the roots in Switzerland, or what?
That really reminds me of that famous—or rather infamous—quote by Swiss Federal Councilor Eduard von Steiger during the Nazi era:

Yea, this quote makes it quite clear how little compassion even the most affluent people are willing to show toward their fellow human beings, even when they are in dire need. Apparently, their cold-heartedness and selfishness haven’t changed one bit.
Immigration hatred is such a fucking waste.
anti-immigration is always a distraction from internal economic, and financial problems. adding population crisis too.
The thing is Switzerland is doing well economically
Not everything is perfect but compared to the rest of Europe the problems are much smaller. What this means is that even economic progress won’t save a country from the rise of the far right
Yeah, my fellow countrymen are all of a sudden against immigration. I was against it the moment i received consciousness.
It will never not astonish me how something as basic as trying to stop infinite growth on a finite planet has been politically transformed into let’s get rid of the brown people.
Because it is being pushed by the party that always complains about the brown people, with signs displaying brown people?
and its always right wing governments+ adding alittle backing from thier well known foreign backers.
But think about the babies!!!
I think this issue will propagate as countries resources and patience reach their limit. In this case the Swiss are attempting to prevent themselves from becoming another UK. Unchecked migration leads to social unrest. And over population leads to social unrest.
The answer, IMO, is to stop migration and seek to improve the standards of “failed” countries. Wishful thinking.
There are legitimate complaints from the anti-immigration camp, resources reaching their limits and dwindling government support are real problems. I don’t see this as a factor of immigration, but rather the endgame of a system that feeds on more.
In the case of the UK, virtually every ‘anti-immigration’ Conservative government actually increased immigration more than the Labour opposition. I suppose no one knows the ‘benefits’ of cheap labour and infinite growth better.
My feeling is, until a balanced steady-state economic system is acheived, or even desired, immigration will remain a side-show. The proposed Swiss law says it all. When the population reaches 9.5 million, the government must ‘do something’.
