people who say this have clearly never read the books. the man can write prose and has extreme attention to detail and very good characterization and internal monologues.
cersei shenanigans are just fun after you hit her first pov chapters and realize she is a (drunk) aurafarmer, and then reinterpret all the shit before. i have some structural gripes with books, but characters and their relations are very finely written (both plot- and prose-wise)

He combined this penchant for interpersonal drama and cliffhangers and intrigue with his encyclopedic fantasy and history knowledge to make something quite unique. It’s both fun and addicting, but also deep and highly symbolic and lovingly interwoven. You don’t get works of art like this very often that combine fun mass appeal with literary chops.
