  • I think the left in the US has known what the winning recipe is for a while now. The problem has been actually finding candidates that you can trust.

    The DSA has mostly been relying on existing politicians coming to them for endorsements trying to exert pressure them once in office like any other lobby. That means their endorsed candidates aren’t effective representatives of the DSA in general because the DSA is just one of many endorsements the politician has to juggle. And there’s basically no ideological training, its only pressure from the local chapter that ever keeps them in line.

    In contrast is the PSL, which does do ideological training and practices democratic centralism. It is also a real legal party, so it can directly influence candidates. Its problem is it has almost no candidates beyond from the presidential protest campaign.
