Counterpoint - there are no communists alive, for they have died in the past actually fighting for the cause. All you have right now are online larpers (me included), real life groups grifting (i.e. trots whose whole existence is to sell stuff and get their money up) or book clubs pretending to be revolutionary. There’s no real working class movement, the class is still reeling from defeat a century ago, ML necrophilia and red scares.

For the same reason people become anarchists: copious amounts of moralism and social media influencers, rarely due to irl groups
