I mean, it won’t help keep the device from being used to see past messages, but kicking them out keeps new messages from appearing on the device, which is a good thing if the state might get full access. Without additional evidence that people somehow erroneously think it’ll erase all history, I’m not sure this is indicating the ignorance you claim it is.
