Still there is endless use of fossil fuels driving even more extreme climate events. Billionaires would have to be among the most destructive people that exist.

Enough of this rear guard action. Climate change doesn’t have to proven with every event. Just because a few well paid right wing media still deny it for ideological reasons.

Stop convincing people it’s real. Start talking on what needs to be done.

It’s intense heat, wildfire smoke, and in my part of the world, extreme drought.

The record setting heat isn’t just about beating historic highs on a given day, it’s about the duration and sheer number of days we’re getting at these extreme levels. It’s also about the heat index nearing never before seen levels. Like most years we get a week of 95F+ (35C) here and there. This year, we’re getting that on the regular with a short break here and there.

The drought is another conundrum. We normally get a dry spell in the summer. Part of the problem this year is that the dry spell started last fall. Another aspect of that: I live in an area where tropical storm systems and their remnants often account for 1/3 to 1/2 or more of our annual rainfall totals. It’s probably for the best, really, but we haven’t had much in the way of tropical systems coming our way this year … so far. Also, you would think drought would mean dry, but the humidity is high and it sprinkles/mists every few days so that keeps the humidity high enough that our heat index is almost always triple digit.

The smoke? Well, that’s just the icing on the cake around here (sorry to the people who are actually dealing with the direct impacts of the fires, I’m not trying to overshadow or belittle your plight). It doesn’t even seem to lower our temps like a proper cloud would. Just makes it that much more unbearable and intolerable to be outside.
