Never forget, there is no acceptable form of resistance to oppression.

If you use physical violence in response to violence you will be told you’re just as bad as your oppressor.

If you destroy property as a form of direct action you will be lumped in with looters and hooligans and told that invalidates your cause.

If you block traffic, or engage in other forms of nonviolent nondestructive civil disobedience, you’ll be told that you’re getting in the way of struggling people that just want to do their job and collect a paycheck.

If you physically impede nothing and no one, but use only signs and shouts, you will be told that if your position held any weight you’d be able to debate people and convince them to your side.

If you argue calmly with people in public, using reason to explain yourself, you will be told that you’re just as annoying as the people you’re arguing against. Or that you need to be nicer. Or that its your fault that your abusers are acting the way they do because you’re not convincing them in the right way.

If you do nothing but simply exist as you are, you’ll be told that your existence is an inconvenience for other people or a problem for society.

If you go out of your way to hide yourself then you’ll be told that any problems you have are your own fault because you didn’t do more to solve them.

People need to grow fucking spines. That’s the answer to our societies problems. Someone tries to abuse you? FUCKING CUT THEM. WITH A KNIFE.

Someone tries to abuse someone in front of you? CUT THEM WITH A FUCKING KNIFE

someone defends abusing people? CUT THEM WITH A FUCKING KNIFE.

The people degrading our society and using the governments monopoly on violence only understand violence. Nothing else will convince them to not do shitty things. There is no debating these people into morals.

Immediate and extreme consequences are the only thing that they understand, but they never receive it because our society is much more concerned with being polite.

CUT THEIR FUCKING FACE SO EVERYONE WILL KNOW WHO THEY ARE. NAZI SCARS ARE BACK ON THE MENU.

I stole Thor’s hammer. Well, OK. Actually a construction of a neighbor’s fence left it in my yard after they finished and left. Close enough, IMO. I was thinking about attaching a sickle with a click to spin it in fashion around the head from the face to the peen at will to strike. It’s a forge hammer but I like it a lot. I also like your very sharp references being arranged around it. Just Sayan, that’d be fucking Super, IYKWIM.

A nearly impossible tension to resolve, and a tension that I couldn’t even conceive of until I read this.

I used to be such a fair minded centrist. Me, a white cis man, existing in a society built by people like me for people like me, taking for granted the ultimate privilege that conferred on: to not be political.

It’s embarrassing but useful to continually be confronted with vestiges of that privilege.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the phrase “I’m not political” is a phrase inseparable from institutional bigotry, and soaked in the blood of minorities.

If you think that’s a dramatic statement, you’re the one who needed to hear it.

To those getting “yes but” thoughts - which would’ve been me included, some ten years ago - it is unreasonable - perhaps even unethical - to demand restraint, dictate procedure or moralize marginalized people’s fight for liberation.

Is it satire with a much more firm titanium alloy hammering with a wide peen impacting more than any heads left to count?

Or better yet, If we burnt Stark’s Mani like the Ledger’s Joker and no rich sucker trick-fooled every real skill to undo the only one that came here to keep life from committing this obvious collective suicide (and not just ours but at a Cosmic Cohesion) we might not even need Thanos to do the dirty work since the place wouldn’t be poisoned, like DuPont.

How do you achieve peace while someone is running around shooting anyone they see? They will not listen to you. They will not tire or get bored. They will never stop.

How do you, oh wise one, propose we deal with such a situation, if violence is always wrong?

Every fight for more rights for more people has had this tension.

I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

You’re the one assuming violence. All this post mentions is anger being seen as coming from “socialized male violence.” Are you saying that us getting angry is tantamount to us getting violent, or do you just want to shove your own self righteousness into a conversation where it doesn’t belong?

On one hand sometimes yes you have to use violence to gain peace which sucks but is what it is, and on the other hand when I’m out there I’m not fighting in the name of peace I’m fighting for my rights as a human.

Ah yes. A trans woman getting angry that her existence is hanging in the balance, is remotely equivalent to the violence of the system and oppressors on the trans women.
