it’s called sweet bean curd in english and has different names throughout east asia and made from a wide variety of beans. my favorite is the japanese red bean curd and i tastes like ice cream when frozen and whipped.
there’s also a mexican recipe floating around somewhere online that uses pinto beans, brown sugar and chile. i tried it once; it’s pretty good too.

pro-tip: it’s really easy with a food processor and blender will probably work well enough too.
