uber is bad because it creates a quasi-monopoly over a market that is then used to extract a rent.
the “gig economy” isn’t even inherently bad in itself. it is bad under capitalism, of course, the gig economy as it exists in our current system is evil as fuck but if people want to do a bit extra on the side or even make solo business as a taxi driver, that in itself isn’t inherently bad. An informal economy orchestrated by apps isn’t inherently evil. It’s the extraction of rents and the exploitation that is bad.
