Pyongyang housing starts bigger than LA or Chicago (helps when you build housing by need). North Korea has its own uber now
that’s bad tho
uber isn’t bad because it’s an app that enables people to book rides.
uber is bad because it creates a quasi-monopoly over a market that is then used to extract a rent.
the “gig economy” isn’t even inherently bad in itself. it is bad under capitalism, of course, the gig economy as it exists in our current system is evil as fuck but if people want to do a bit extra on the side or even make solo business as a taxi driver, that in itself isn’t inherently bad. An informal economy orchestrated by apps isn’t inherently evil. It’s the extraction of rents and the exploitation that is bad.
Uber exists in the context of all that came before
There are lots of concerns to be had about market reforms, etc., but if you read the very brief part of the article about their “Uber,” it’s suggesting that it’s an app being used to coordinate an actual taxi service, which would generally be a good thing.
Westoid seeing a taxi service: “this is just like Uber, the only means of transport”
Guy seeing a second country’s app: “Getting strong Uber vibes from this.”
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
It’s an app tho. Only uber is car app.
