The decision clears the way for Helsinki to receive, transport and facilitate the movement of nuclear weapons on its territory as part of allied defense operations.
I thought the same thing when they left an anti landmine group, but like others said, their neighbors are acting erratically and dangerous for national safety.
As I understand now, using mines gives a smaller defender a lot more power then a big attacker. Landmines still suck ass ofc but at least I understand the choice to use them from a country like Finland.
Nukes sound similar. If you can project mutually assured destruction, enemy choices are limited.
Finland is already a member of NATO. Situating nuclear weapons there doesn’t increase the “deterrent” effect of NATO nukes. Instead, it increases the likelihood that Russia will feel compelled to rely on faster, more automated systems to determine if NATO has initiated a surprise attack, and to retaliate. We’re seconds to midnight on the doomsday clock, and these fuckers think it’s clever to announce this horrendous policy.
