So, Hexbear.net’s users told me to promote my stuff in their instance—only for mods to ban me soon after for spam, just for crossposting posts from [email protected] including links to my socials. No rule against it, of course, but why let something like rules get in the way of a good old-fashioned power trip?

This is the kind of hypocrisy that doesn’t just rot communities—it rots movements. The same people who’ll lecture you about “solidarity” and “anti-authoritarianism” will turn around and run their little fiefdom like a tinpot dictatorship the second they get the chance. This is the kind of behavior that doesn’t just stay online. Give these people real power, and suddenly you’re looking at a Pinochet-style regime: dissenters disappeared, criticism crushed, and all of it wrapped in the hypocrisy of calling themselves “leftists.” If this is what their version of leftism looks like, I’d hate to see their idea of authoritarianism.

Funny how the loudest voices for “freedom” and “equality” are the first to slam the door shut when someone steps slightly out of line. But I guess that’s the Hexbear way—rules for thee, not for me.

So here’s to Hexbear.net: proof that the only thing more predictable than a mod abusing power is a “leftist” mod who thinks they’re the exception to their own principles.

Unlike Russia, China doesn’t even pretend to have elections (not that Russia’s mean anything), is actively conducting ethnic cleansing in Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang, illegally claiming territory from India and in the South China Sea, applied pressure on independent Mongolia for recognizing the independent authority of the Dalai Lama, has a heavy censorship regime in place (including non-recognition of the Tiananmen Square massacres), has rolled back most of Hong Kong’s freedoms, uses its own citizens to spy on its nationals living abroad, and continues to seek the annexation of Taiwan and the end of its democratic government.

Also, while its form of imperialism does not have the overtly militaristic character of Russia or the affinity for regime change of the U.S., the Belt and Road Initiative is not merely an altruistic means for China to facilitate exports, but rather a form of neo-colonialism that gives China substantial and unbalanced access to natural resources in the Global South. Taking on substantial debt from China leaves many countries over-leveraged and dependent on China for further investment, for which China expects political support on the international stage, including express non-recognition of Taiwan by any means.

Unlike Russia, China doesn’t even pretend to have elections

Wtf did I vote in then?

is actively conducting ethnic cleansing in Tibet

      You sure about that?

      Inner Mongolia,

      You sure about that?

      Xinjiang

      You sure about that?

Edit: To clarify all three links, the only claim of ethnic cleansing for the former two are that China is “erasing culture” by teaching kids Mandarin so they’re not trapped forever in Tibet or Inner Mongolia and have a chance at a normal life of social mobility in the rest of the country where most the jobs and education are; China still teaches, by law, ethnic languages and culture. This includes Cantonese in that area, which is never brought up because they’re not brown enough I guess. All other claims about Xinjiang are also wrong or misleading, and I can address those as needed, but given you grouped them together it’s better to do the Rock meme instead of taking someone like you seriously until you start learning to accept at least some of the information people have paid to have you know is wrong.

illegally claiming territory from India and in the South China Sea

The name’s a clue. Also no, no territory has been claimed from India, despite what the fascist Modi thinks.

applied pressure on independent Mongolia for recognizing the independent authority of the Dalai Lama,

You mean the pedophile who adovcates for child sex slavery?

has a heavy censorship regime in place

Yes, because propaganda works, since you believe the things the US paid for you to believe.

(including non-recognition of the Tiananmen Square massacres),

Then this link shouldn’t exist, right? (note to people other than the person I’m replying to, yeah I could’ve searched longer on Baidu or even used a VPN to access the actual government info page for it, but I’m lazy, not currently in China, and that would be useless to an American this far gone.)

has rolled back most of Hong Kong’s freedoms

Name one. A single one. I think more affordable housing, food, and actual transportation seems to be a key to more freedom, not less.

uses its own citizens to spy on its nationals living abroad

This is a conspiracy theory created entirely by RadioFreeAsia. There is no actual source of this information that does not link back to it.

and continues to seek the annexation of Taiwan and the end of its democratic government.

The government born out of fascism, had no elections until the US forced them to in the 1990s by threatening to get rid of its support if it didn’t?

It’s not annexation if it’s reunification of a land illegally held by a fascist group that committed genocide of the Taiwanese in order to occupy their land illegally.

Weird, then, that they forgive debt constantly, stopped imposing tariffs as they allowed African countries as the relationship deepened, and leave countries when asked.

If Imperialism was like that, we’d all be better off as colonies of such an empire. Only it’s not imperialism, objectively, by any definition from the man that defined it.
