It’s insane that people defend incarceration. It’s really just like defending slavery or apartheid in their days.
even if some people are dangerous and need to be rehabilitated in a secure location, the current system is the opposite of that, it’s pointless torture that worsens the economic and mental health factors that send people there in the first place.

Prisons have been around for longer than both of those things. I get that rehabilitation should be the goal but what are you meant to do when someone is repeatedly incapable of living within society?
When people are talking about incarceration, they’re usually talking about the modern form of incarceration which is specifically not rooted in any historical form that may have sought to make a community safer by rehabilitating or relocating anti-social individuals.
The current system makes no attempt to fix any of the issues that cause anti-social behaviors, it makes no attempt to remediate anti-social behaviors, and it is not applied at a human scale.

What? No. What gave you this idea? Slavery is way, way older than prisons. Also older than states.
If you want to seperate a person from society you can at least put them in a big cage like an open air locked off town instead of a little cell.
The current incarceration system was invented because
- Class societies have an obsession with monitoring and disciplining
- Many people elevate their personal feelings into a sense of justice. The criminal must be violently punished to satisfy their thirst for violence.

Ferrits seem like they are demons. Like, cats are known to be good hunters. Every ferret I have met seems to have a cold bloodlust in their little hearts that puts a cat to shame. My roommate would lose feeder mice. She would a the cat catch the mouse so she could take it from the cat to feed her snake. She tried it one time and the ferrit instantly killed the mouse. This was a well fed creature that would not have had any chance to hunt before. Just zero hesitation it ran over and crushed the mouse skull. Seemingly on instinct alone. This is the outcome I would expect for ferrets and rodents
Lmao cats are serial killers who torment their victims and ferrets are T-800s who just murder as expediently as possible
Ferrets are cool and cute in certain ways but I cannot fathom how they’d be better than a cat at any job be it pest control or therapy pet.
And that’s not even considering the differences in care costs, ferret-proofing, waste cleaning. Making a child clean up ferret waste instead of having a cat with a normal litter box is so cruel and pointless.

The fault lies not with us, the people who had hired these private contractors. I was looking for a good deal.
